PHARMACOLOGY AND MEDICINAL PROPERTIES OF CAESALPINIA CRISTA- AN OVERVIEW

Caesalpinia crista (Caesalpinia bonduc, Caesalpinia bonducella) belongs to family Caesalpiniaceae, contained favonoids, tannins, proteins, alkaloids, carbohydrates reducing sugars, phytosterols, saponins, coumarins, triterpenoids, furanocassane-diterpenes, nor-cassane diterpenes, neo-cassane diterpenes and many other bioactive compounds. It exerted nootropic, anticonvulsant, antianxiety, adaptogenic, antimicrobial, antiprotozoal, anthelmintic, insecticidal, antiproliferatve, antidiabetic, hypotensive, cardiprotective, hepatoprotective, anticancer, antioxidant, hypolipidemic and many other effects.
