In the present study, an attempt was made to design and evaluate Buccal tablets of Domperidone an anti-emetic drug, in Order to overcome bioavailability problems, to reduce dose dependent side effects and frequency of administration. Buccal tablets of the drug were prepared by direct compression method using combination of Buccoadhesive polymers such as Carbopol 934P, Sodium CMC, HPMC K15M, HPMC K4M.The tablets were evaluated for different parameters like weight variation, friability, in-vitro release, content uniformity, Hardness, Swelling Index, surface PH, Mucoadhesive strength. Observations of all the formulations for physical characterization had shown that, all of them comply with the official compendia’s. Results of in-vitro release profile indicated that formulation F8 Containing drug matrix composition With Sod.CMC and Carbopol 934P, in ratio of 1:6:0.5 was found to be promising formulation as the extent of drug release from this formulation was high as compare to other formulations 91.90% in 150 min. DSC studies show no evidence on interaction between drug, polymers and other excipient
