Abstract
In the present study an intermolecular reductive Schiff base formation from 4-nitro benzoic acid and benzaldehyde carried out in the presence of iron powder and dilute acid. The study reports the synthesis of Fe (III)-with 4-benzylidine amino benzoic acid and their characterization using FTIR and magnetic susceptibility. The Schiff base and Fe complex have been screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activity. The result of this study shows that the Fe(III) complex is effective against fungal pathogen than the bacterial pathogens
